Notable Changes from the Previous Year
The 2024 lineup has quite a few changes in interior and exterior design but not many regarding technology. All models have new safety features, such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.Â
Technology Features
There’s nothing basic about the new Elantra, even if the price tags suggest otherwise. All models have a mobile-compatible infotainment system. The Luxury and N Line Ultimate models are equipped with a BlueLink-connected vehicle system, a feature that is optional for the Preferred model. It allows you to lock/unlock the doors, start the engine, and preset climate controls remotely via smartphone.Â
All models have cruise control switches mounted on the steering wheel and a trip computer with updated information about average speed, fuel efficiency, elapsed time, and estimated range. Wireless charging pads are standard for the Luxury and N Line Ultimate. The entry-level trim is the only option that doesn’t include proximity keyless entry, power windows, or a hands-free smart trunk.
Safety Features and Driving Assists
The new Elantra provides nearly the same safety features and assists across the lineup. These include lane-departure warning, lane-following assist, lane-keeping assist, high-beam assist, and driver’s-attention warning.Â
The Preferred and higher models can count on rear cross-traffic avoidance assist, safe exit warning, and blindspot-collision-avoidance assist. Upper models also come with adaptive cruise control and highway driving assistance. Passive features like front and rear crumple zones, bodyside reinforcements, energy-absorbing steering columns, and an anti-theft system are standard for all trims.Â
